WHITEFISH — A good day for Whitefish tennis.

The Bulldog boys downed rival Columbia Falls, 6-1, while the Lady Bulldogs blanked the Wildkats, 7-0.

“I’m real happy,” smiled Whitefish coach Kathy Cummings.

The match of the day belonged to Whitefish’s Brielle Menegazzi and Columbia Falls’ Sarah Marcille.

Menegazzi won a marathon — two hours, 15 minutes — battle.

“Persistence. She just hung in there,” Cummings said of Menegazzi.

“Sarah was a real backboard hitter. She just kept the ball in play — and Brielle gave it back.”

Tim Spencer, at No. 4 singles, was the only bright spot for the Columbia Falls boys. He downed Ian Cantrell, 6-1, 6-2.

The Bulldogs (boys and girls) play host today to Ronan (10 a.m.), then have the Eureka girls at 1 p.m.
