SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Corvallis hands Belgrade first loss of season

BUTTE - Corvallis senior pitcher Kasie Conder put an end to Belgrade's bid for a perfect season in the highlight matchup of Friday's first day of action at the 24-team LaVerne Combo Invitational hosted by Butte Central.

Conder struck out 10 and allowed five hits as Central A Corvallis downed Belgrade 5-2, sending the Panthers to their first loss of the season in a game called after five innings due to the time limit. The two-time all-state hurler, who was coming off back-to-back no-hitters and entered with a 23-inning scoreless streak, improved to 14-1.

Down 2-1, the Blue Devils scored four times in the top of the fourth to rally to the win. Kori Conder went 2-for-2 and Amber Bradshaw finished 2-for-3 top lead Corvallis. Megan Auch and Danielle Murray each doubled for Corvallis.


Lauren Torres took the loss for Belgrade, allowing seven hits.

The invite concludes with another 24 games Saturday.

At Butte, after being relieved in the fifth, Kasie Conder returned in the same frame to stop the Rangers' eight-run rally as the Blue Devils picked up their first win of the day.

Corvallis scored four in the top of the sixth and Kasie Conder shut the door on Livingston in the bottom half of a game that was halted at the end of the inning because of the tournament's time limit.

Markie Gurley swatted a pair of home runs for the Blue Devils. She finished 2-for-4 with a game-high six RBIs.

Amber Bradshaw drove in a run for Corvallis and was 3-for-3 with a double. Sydney Ewing also collected a double and an RBI for the Blue Devils.

Jordan Aguilar singled twice and drove in a run for the Rangers.

Crawford allowed just a Lisa Clawson single and struck out 12.

At Butte, five errors and the Wolves' three-run sixth inning doomed Western B-C Deer Lodge in a game limited to six innings due to time constraints.

Krystal Burns was the tough-luck loser on the mound for the Wardens, allowing just three Cut Bank singles.

At the plate, Burns doubled twice and finished 3-for-3. Karissa Dankers went 2-for-4 with a double for Deer Lodge.

Jill Murphy tossed the complete game to earn the win for the Wolves. She allowed six hits.

Brooke Hageness went the distance on the mound for the Loggers, limiting the Rams to three hits to get the win. She pitched a scoreless seventh after allowing a single run in the bottom of the sixth that tied it.
