LIBBY — Libby tallied three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Tuesday to down Glacier 3-0 in a nonconference softball game.

Glacier pitcher Jesse Compton allowed just two hits through five scoreless innings. The Loggers had three hits in the sixth.

Compton finished with four strikeouts and issued two walks.

“First, second, third and fifth innings, it was three up, three down (for Libby),” Glacier coach Joel Bemis said.

“We only allowed four (batters) in the fourth.”

Libby pitcher Brooke Hageness was just as impressive. She allowed five hits, struck out seven and walked one batter.

Abby Connolly and Sabrina Kenfield both went 2-for-3 for Glacier. Libby’s Laice Dedrick went 2-for-3.

There were no extra-base hits in the contest.

“We left some runners stranded on second a couple of times,” Bemis said.

“We got on her (Hageness), but either flied out or hit it right to people. Libby is a good team, didn’t make any mistakes. They fielded them, got us out. It was hard to score.”

Glacier returns to AA play on Thursday versus Flathead. Libby’s next action is today at Polson, 5 p.m.

“Compton pitched well for them,” said Libby coach Dean Thompson.

“She kept us on our toes, she pitched well. It was just that one inning that we did the scoring.”
