LIBBY - Libby remained unbeaten in Western A softball action with a thrilling 3-2 win over defending state champ Polson on Friday.

The Loggers (9-0, 18-3) scored once in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win. The same two teams meet again Saturday in Polson.

Brooke Hageness (17-2) scattered seven hits to pick up the win for the Loggers.

Laice Dedrick slapped a double and drove in two runs for Libby. Hageness had a pair of singles.

Sarah Newton and SuSan Perez-Tenas drove in runs for the Pirates.

At Browning, Morgan Rowe threw a one-hitter and a 10-run first frame helped lift the Wildkats to the Western A win in five innings due to the 10-run margin rule.

Amanda Milliard doubled and finished 4-for-4 with three RBIs in Columbia Falls' leadoff spot. Lindsay Nelson, Amber James and Rowe each collected two RBIs for the Wildkats, who totaled 21 hits.

Tiffany Sinclair singled for the Indians.

Highlights - Havre's Steph Stremcha had a double and two RBIs. Four players - Maddie Cebuhar, Sarah Parks, Elizabeth McGee and Brittany Sterna - drove in runs for the Locomotives.
