SOFTBALL ROUNDUP (4-15)--POLSON 3 RONAN 0
Polson’s Peterson throws no-hitter Posted: Wednesday, Apr 16, 2008 - 12:15:10 am MDT
“Her breaking pitch worked very nice for her. She really kept them off balance.” Ronan never hit the ball out of the infield. Smith said shortstop Amanda James also had a tremendous defensive game. “She had several ground ball put-outs,” he said. “She made a spectacular catch on a ball hit in foul territory by third base, a pop blooper. She went into the hole deep to make the play.” Polson, 8-1 overall, scored once in the first, second and fourth innings. Sarah Newton singled with two outs, stole second, reached third on a passed ball and then scored on a passed ball in the first inning. Then in the second, Caitlyn Vassar singled to right-center. Charlee Jenson’s bunt single advanced Vassar to second. Ronan made an error on SuSan Perez-Tenas’ bunt that allowed Vassar to score. Staci Benson scored Polson’s final run. She came home from second on a pop fly caught by Ronan’s second baseman in foul territory.
