POLSON WON CONFERENCE AGAIN AND HAVE A BYE NEXT WEEK.  COLUMBIA FALLS TOOK 2ND AND HOST HAMILTON NEXT SATURDAY AT 1:00 PM.  RONAN TOOK 3RD AND WILL TRAVEL TO DILLON NEXT WEEK.

At Polson, the fifth-ranked Pirates scored the final 20 points of the game and clinched the Northwestern A title with the league victory in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Tim Rausch led a powerful Polson rushing attack that piled up 268 yards, running 24 times for 156 yards and a touchdown. Joe Andrews added TD runs of 80 and 23 yards in totalling 11 carries for 111 yards. Ty Fouty added a 35-yard fumble return for a TD.

The Pirates, who earned a bye in the first round of the State A playoffs, improved to 4-0, 7-1 and will face the winner of next weekend's game between the second seed from the Central A and the third seed from the Eastern A.

Xavier Morigeau led the Chiefs (2-2, 5-4), running 22 times for 76 yards, including a 6-yard TD run in the first quarter.

Libby 40, Lethbridge, Alberta 14

At Libby, Micah Germany passed for three touchdowns and ran for another in Libby's nonconference win over Lethbridge, Alberta.

Germany finished 20-for-33 for 310 yards through the air for the Loggers, who finished the season at 2-7. Germany also led Libby on the ground with 50 yards on 13 carries.

TJ Benson caught seven passes for 144 yards and a TD for Libby, which spotted Lethbridge a 14-0 lead.

Columbia Falls 33, Whitefish 14

At Columbia Falls, John Woody rushed for 190 yards and the Wildcats dominated time of possession in a Northwestern A matchup.

Columbia Falls jumped to a 19-7 lead in the first half and Kaleb Johnson iced the win with two second-half scores. He struck paydirt on passes of 60 and 26 yards from quarterback Mitchell Wassam, who totaled 210 passing yards.

The Wildcats (3-1 conference, 6-3 overall) clinched a No. 2 seed and will host a first-round playoff game on Oct. 31.

Whitefish (1-3, 4-4) was led by Daniel Simmons with 164 rushing yards and two catches for 29 yards.
