Gilden had two goals and an assist and Valentine assisted on both of Gilden's goals Saturday as the Libby girls' soccer team remained undefeated with a 3-1 Northern A victory over Bigfork. Valentine's cross on a corner kick in the second minute found Gilden, who beat Vals goalkeeper Danielle Morris for the first goal of the match. The duo combined again to give the Loggers a 2-0 lead five minutes before halftime. After Caitlin Charlebois cut Libby's advantage to 2-1 with an unassisted goal in the early stages of the second half, Gilden fed Chelsea Ahart, who iced it with the Loggers' third goal of the match. Audra Poppen and Jenny Johnson each made one save for Libby, which boosted its mark to 6-0-0 in league play and 9-0-0 overall. Morris made seven saves in goal for the Vals. Hamilton 6, Corvallis 1 At Hamilton, sophomore midfielder Erin Loranger scored one goal and assisted on two more goals as Hamilton clinched first place in the Southern A with a win over Corvallis. Maria Zepeda assisted on two goals as well, including Loranger's, which gave the Broncs (9-1-1) a 5-1 lead at the half. Ali Stahl and Sam Pederson each made two saves in goal for Hamilton, which has one more regular-season match before hosting a first-round playoff contest. Corvallis' Coral Higuera made it 3-1 with a goal in the 22nd minute. Callie Marsh made three saves in earning the shutout in goal for the Bulldogs. Polson, which fell to 0-5-0, 2-5-2, received 13 saves from Jacie Morrison. Corvallis 1, Hamilton 0 At Hamilton, junior Cody Pearce scored with six minutes remaining in the match to lift the Blue Devils over the Broncs in Southern A play. Corvallis (8-0, 9-1) outshot Hamilton 16-11 in the match as both squads struggled to break into the scoring column. The Devils earned the No. 1 seed from the South. David Illgenfritz made seven saves for Corvallis to post the shutout. Joe Robinson had 11 saves for Hamilton (5-2-1, 6-3-1), which is the league runner-up and will be on the road for the playoffs starting Oct. 17. Robinson, a sophomore, played in place of normal starter Nash Johnson, who was out with flu-like symptoms.
