STEVENSVILLE - The Hamilton girls' soccer team clinched at least a share of the Southern A conference title Friday with a 4-0 shutout win over league foe Stevensville.

Once the Broncs (6-0 conference, 8-1-1 overall) broke a scoreless tie on a Jill Toews goal in the 39th minute, it changed everything. Hamilton scored again just two minutes into the second half, with Kelsi Almond doing the honors on an assist by Kelsey Brangoccio.

"Stevi was aggressive on defense, trying to disrupt us, and we couldn't finish," Broncs coach Craig Shifflett said of the first 38 minutes. "But we got it going right before the half and then I think we wore them down a little bit."

Toews added a second goal in the 65th minute and Casey Shifflett scored unassisted in the 76th minute.

Stevensville fell to 2-4, 2-6, despite 11 saves by keeper Anna Tom.

The Broncs can extend their long string of undisputed league titles with a win Saturday against visiting Corvallis.
