If there was ever a good time to challenge Jackie Mee, it may have passed.
The junior from Libby is now tournament tested, and just one victory away from capturing her third straight singles tennis title at the Western A divisional.
Mee, 16-0 overall, easily advanced to today's final with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Gabi Stenger of Columbia Falls, and a 6-0, 6-1 win over Jade Bosic of Bigfork at the courts at Flathead Valley Community College on Friday.
"Yeah, the first match was a little shaky," Mee said of her divisional opener Thursday.
"Just getting back into the tournament atmosphere. But then, I'm starting to get to where I should be."
Mee won that Thursday match, besting Sara Keeble of Polson, 6-1, 6-2. Mee, the top seed in singles, had a first-round bye on opening day.
Mee will now face Jane Probst of Polson for the championship. Probst downed Whitefish's Kate Klundt 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 in the other semifinal.
"I rely quite a bit on my serves," Mee said.
"It's a big weapon for me, sets up a lot of short balls so I can put them away."
And that was the case versus Bosic.
"I got a lot of short return balls and I had to put them away," she said.
Mee, who was a win away from placing at state last year, said repeating at divisionals is not a major concern, or is it something she dwells on.
"Just take it one at a time," she said.
"I try not to (think about it). It puts a little bit (of pressure on you). When you go out there, you don't think about the big picture. You just try to focus on one shot."
So far, it's working.
"If I'm serving well, the rest of my game goes with it," Mee said. "It's been pretty consistent."
Tournament action resumes today at 8 a.m.
